Written for I-Ju Chang, Be Still, My Soul was finished during the months following September 11, and so was deeply affected by the enormous range of emotions that we all lived through during that time. I-Ju premiered Be Still, My Soul at Stony Brook’s Staller Center for the Arts in the fall of 2001.

In memoriam: all those who suffered, and those who continue to suffer, as a result of September 11, 2001.

Be still, my soul
Be open, my eyes

Be still, my mind
Be open, my heart
